Photos Galore!!

Yesterday was my day off and what a wonderful day it was. I spent the first part of the day reading blogs, straightening the house, and doing laundry. Not too exciting there - but by noon I was in my studio stitching away.

First, I completed the most recent block in my Batik Nature BOM...

My favorite one so far...the points just lined up perfectly!!!
Then I made a Mug Rug...my first. I found this tutorial through the Mug Rug Madness (button in sidebar), tweaked it a little to fit my liking and this came up with this....

Rewarded myself with a Brownie & coffee

This is the selvages from Hugs & Kisses (used in my Dresden Plate below)
I used this tute by VeryKerryBerry for my binding and it worked great. The only thing I would change is the hand stitching part to join the binding. My hand stitching leaves a lot to be desired and it shows ;-/ And for some reason I can never get my corners on the back to be neat!! No matter what method I use...UGH!!

From there I moved on to sewing my Dresden together and I like it much more now...

Yep...this I like...not sure what changed but I do!

I changed them around being a bit more methodical and wah-lah

There are ripples but Lynne promises those will melt away in the next step
Then I pulled a UFO out and started preparing the back so that I can send it off to Lisa. My original plan was to remove the borders and make them wider but I think I can live with this. It is a Christmas quilt and even with wider borders you won't be able to see the full drama of that lovely toile. So I am going to use a large piece of it on the back. Problem solved!! I should have the back pieced this weekend. Here is the top...made about a year ago...

I have always wanted a red & white quilt so when I found this toile I knew I had to buy it. It has the biblical Christmas story depicted on it. I love this quilt!! I am not sure anyone else would love it as much as I do but that is OK it is for ME!!

  3. I am in awe that it was only noon after you read blogs, straightened your house, and did the laundry! I wish I had your energy. Great projects. I adore the quilt top! I can't resist toile, either. Nice that it's a Christmas-themed quilt not created with green and red.

  5. I love your selvedge mug rug. I drank the kool-aid in December and made my first mug rugs for my Quilting Bee members. I used selvedges and just love the look of them all playing together.

I have only recently discovered that I like toile. I used to think it was kind of "eh". But I felt the same way about paisleys and now I'm a paisley FREAK!
I have another red and white quilt with toile for the settings to quilt. This will be FUN! It's gorgeous!
